New Omni foundation to expand support for youth transitioning out of foster care
The Omni Family of Services is proud to announce its latest endeavor: Omni Family Foundation. The newly formed entity will support youth transitioning out of foster care with wrap-around supports and resources designed to inspire hope, pave a strong path for their future and ensure they find long-term independence.
Statistics show that youth who age out of foster care (usually when they turn 18) may face additional challenges as they navigate adulthood. Without a caring adult or family to offer the occasional safety net or ongoing guidance, their ability to find housing, higher education, full employment, health benefits or stable relationships can be fraught with setbacks.
Omni Family Foundation aims to turn that trajectory around with a focus on expanding access to quality housing; offering education, life skills and workforce development; and partnering with STEM Scout labs for hand-on sessions designed to spark new interests and career options.
Our efforts will be guided by executive director Page B. Walley, Ph.D, who has a led a long and distinguished career in child welfare, human services, academics and public office. He was most recently President and Chief Public Policy Officer for Saint Francis Ministries. As a family agency consultant prior to that, he co-led collaboration with the White House Rural Council on their rural child poverty IMPACT initiative and developed the nationally recognized “Permanency Roundtable” methodology to address the needs of youth who had been in state custody for an average of 4+ years. He is also a longtime elected public servant and currently represents District 26 in the Tennessee State Senate. Dr. Walley has also served in state cabinet level positions with Alabama and Tennessee.
We invite the public to join us as we take this next step in our mission:
